  • 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • Fresh thyme sprigs (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking dish and layer sweet potatoes evenly.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Pour over sweet potatoes.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheese and cranberries between the layers.
  4. In a small bowl, mix panko, pecans, and melted butter. Spread over the top.
  5. Bake uncovered at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes, until bubbly and golden. Garnish with thyme.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline for even sweet potato slices.
  • Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving for cleaner slices.
  • Substitute Gruyère with mozzarella for a milder flavor.
