A light, zesty, and comforting fish soup with a spicy kick, perfect for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 4 cups fish or vegetable broth
  • 1 lb white fish (like cod or halibut), cut into chunks
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Lemon slices for garnish
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for topping

Instructions

  1. In a pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until soft and fragrant.
  2. Stir in diced tomato, chili flakes, and paprika. Cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Pour in the broth, bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Drop in the fish chunks, season with salt and pepper. Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes until fish is tender and flaky.
  5. Stir in lemon juice, garnish with parsley and lemon slices. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust chili flakes to control the spiciness.
  • Use any white fish of your choice.
  • Can be served with crusty bread for a complete meal.
