A one-skillet wonder loaded with bold smoky flavor, this Spicy Honey BBQ Pasta is a delicious and easy dinner option.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rotini pasta (or any short pasta)
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1/2 orange bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to heat level)
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta in salted water until al dente, drain and reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and pan-fry sausage slices until golden and crisp on the edges.
  3. Add onions, bell peppers, and garlic to the same skillet. Sauté until softened and aromatic.
  4. Pour in BBQ sauce, honey, red pepper flakes, and reserved pasta water. Simmer for a few minutes until everything gets sticky, spicy, and glossy.
  5. Add cooked pasta into the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to your heat preference.
  • This dish can be made using other types of sausage based on preference.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
