- 500g ground beef or chicken
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for sauce)
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley
- 300g spaghetti
- Salt for boiling water
- In a large bowl, mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, herbs, salt, and pepper. Shape into small meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook meatballs until browned on all sides. Set aside.
- In the same pan, add olive oil and sauté onion and garlic. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- Add meatballs into the sauce and cook covered for another 10 minutes until fully cooked through.
- Boil spaghetti in salted water until al dente. Drain and toss lightly with a bit of sauce.
- Serve spaghetti topped with meatballs and more sauce. Garnish with chopped parsley or basil.

- For extra juicy meatballs, don’t overwork the mixture.
- Let the sauce simmer to develop deep flavor.
- Use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta for a healthier version.
