A quick and easy appetizer made with flaky puff pastry, savory sausage, and melted cheese. Perfect for parties, brunch, or a tasty snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Colby Jack)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage in a skillet until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Mix in garlic powder and smoked paprika.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.
  3. Spread the cooked sausage evenly over the pastry, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  4. Roll the pastry tightly into a log and slice into 1-inch pieces.
  5. Place pinwheels on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes until golden and puffed.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked sausage for faster prep.
  • Substitute cheddar with mozzarella or pepper jack for variation.
  • Freeze unbaked pinwheels for up to a month.
