Ingredients
Scale
1 ½ cups cooked salmon (flaked)
1 cup mashed potatoes
1 egg
1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Salt & pepper to taste
1 cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
Oil for frying
1 ripe avocado
1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
Juice of 1 lime
1 garlic clove
2 tbsp fresh cilantro
Salt & pepper to taste
1–2 tbsp water (to thin, if needed)
Instructions
In a bowl, combine flaked salmon, mashed potatoes, egg, green onions, garlic, parsley, and smoked paprika. Add breadcrumbs, then season with salt and pepper. Mix until you get a firm, scoopable texture—this is your perfect crispy appetizer base!
Scoop and roll mixture into balls. Chill for 15 minutes to firm them up—this step makes sure they hold their shape and fry up golden.
Roll each ball in breadcrumbs, then fry in hot oil until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
Toss avocado, sour cream, lime juice, garlic, cilantro, salt, and pepper in a blender. Blend until ultra-smooth and creamy. Add a splash of water if needed to make it drizzle-ready.
Plate the salmon balls over a swoosh of avocado sauce, drizzle more on top, and finish with chopped herbs.
Notes
Chilling the salmon balls helps them maintain their shape while frying.
Adjust the thickness of the avocado sauce with water to your preference.
These can be made ahead of time and frozen before frying.
