A hearty brunch casserole combining sweet and savory flavors with ham, turkey, and melted cheese.

  • 6 cups cubed French bread (day-old works best)
  • 1 cup chopped ham
  • 1 cup chopped cooked turkey or chicken
  • 1½ cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (plus more for topping)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Powdered sugar (optional garnish)
  • Fresh parsley or chives (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Layer cubed bread, ham, turkey, and cheese in a greased 9×13″ baking dish.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, mustard, maple syrup, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour egg mixture over the casserole. Press lightly and let soak for 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45–50 minutes until golden and set.
  5. Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, and sprinkle herbs before serving.

Notes

  • Day-old bread absorbs custard better.
  • Refrigerate overnight for easier prep.
  • Adjust sweetness with extra maple syrup if desired.
