Ingredients
Scale
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb Italian sausage (mild or hot)
1 small onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
2 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt & pepper, to taste
9 lasagna noodles (cooked al dente)
15 oz ricotta cheese
1 egg
1/2 cup grated parmesan
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (plus more for garnish)
Instructions
Cook the Meat Sauce: Brown the ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic in a large skillet until cooked through. Stir in marinara, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Mix the Ricotta Layer: In a bowl, blend ricotta cheese, egg, parmesan, and parsley.
Layer Like a Pro: In a 9×13 baking dish, spread a little meat sauce on the bottom. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers and finish with mozzarella on top.
Bake Until Bubbling: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Let It Rest & Slice: Let the lasagna rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
Feel free to add more cheese for an extra cheesy lasagna.
Letting the lasagna rest is crucial for perfect layering.
