A gooey and rich melted beef patty sandwich topped with sweet, caramelized onions and melted cheese, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g ground beef
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 8 slices thick sandwich bread (Texas toast or sourdough)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook slowly for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until deeply golden and soft. Set aside.
  2. Form the ground beef into 4 oval-shaped patties slightly larger than your bread slices. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Cook on a hot skillet or grill pan for 3–4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Spread the mixture onto one side of each bread slice.
  4. On the non-mayo side of 4 bread slices, layer in order: 1 slice cheddar, 1 beef patty, caramelized onions, 1 slice mozzarella. Top with another slice of bread, mayo side facing out.
  5. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Grill each sandwich for 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula until golden and the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • Serve warm with a side of crispy fries, dill pickles, or tomato soup for a complete meal.
  • Feel free to mix different types of cheese for added flavor.
  • Adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences.
