Ingredients
Scale
¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
2¼ tsp instant yeast
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup melted butter
1 egg
2¾ cups all-purpose flour
½ tsp salt
½ cup sugar + 2 tbsp lemon zest (filling)
¼ cup softened butter (filling)
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp lemon zest

Instructions
Make the dough: Mix warm milk and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy. Add melted butter, egg, flour, and salt. Knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
Prepare the filling: Combine sugar and lemon zest. Roll dough into a 12×16″ rectangle. Spread with softened butter and sprinkle lemon sugar evenly. Roll tightly and cut into 9 rolls. Place in a greased 9×9″ pan. Let rise 30–45 minutes.
Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 22–25 minutes until lightly golden. Cool slightly.
Lemon icing: Mix powdered sugar, lemon juice, and zest until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls. Garnish with lemon slices or extra zest.
