- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2–3 fresh jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for milder heat)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- Optional: Extra cheese & jalapeños for topping
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
- Fold in shredded cheddar and chopped jalapeños.
- In a separate bowl, whisk buttermilk, egg, and melted butter. Pour wet mixture into the dry and stir until just combined.
- Transfer batter into a greased loaf pan. Sprinkle extra cheese and jalapeño slices on top.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool slightly, slice, and enjoy warm with butter.
Notes
- For a milder flavor, remove the seeds from the jalapeños.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
