Hot Honey Fried Shrimp is a sweet, spicy, and crispy dish that combines the flavors of honey and hot sauce for a delicious appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on optional)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Hot Honey Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to heat preference)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 clove garlic, grated or minced

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Shrimp: Soak shrimp in buttermilk for 15–30 minutes to tenderize and lock in juicy texture and crispy perfection vibes.
  2. Dredge & Coat: Mix flour, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss shrimp in the dry mix for that ultimate golden crunch and fried snack win.
  3. Fry ‘Em Up: Heat oil to 350°F and fry shrimp until golden and crispy (about 2–3 minutes per side). This step guarantees next-level crispiness and bold bite satisfaction.
  4. Make the Hot Honey: In a saucepan, melt butter, add honey, hot sauce, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until it’s sticky-sweet heat magic.
  5. Toss & Serve: Drizzle or toss crispy shrimp in the hot honey sauce. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds for a showstopper appetizer or sweet heat dinner upgrade.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce in the hot honey sauce to suit your heat preference.
  • For extra crunch, consider double-dipping the shrimp in the buttermilk and dry mix.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture.
