Ingredients
Scale
500g ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3–4 potatoes, peeled and boiled
2 tablespoons butter (for mashed potatoes)
1/4 cup milk
Salt to taste (for mashed potatoes)
1 cup carrots, chopped and steamed
1 cup peas
1/2 cup sweet corn
Instructions
In a bowl, mix ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into oval patties.
Heat a skillet over medium heat with olive oil. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
In the same skillet, melt butter, then whisk in flour. Cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened.
Return patties to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Mash boiled potatoes with butter, milk, and salt until creamy.
Steam or boil peas, corn, and carrots until tender.
Plate mashed potatoes, top with steak and gravy, then add vegetables on the side. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
Don’t overmix the beef to keep patties tender.
Use low-sodium broth to control saltiness in the gravy.
Add mushrooms to the gravy for a deeper, earthy flavor.
