Soft, sticky, warm and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious homemade cinnamon rolls.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 23 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add egg, melted butter, salt, and flour. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover and let rise in warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Roll dough into a large rectangle. Spread softened butter, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly.
  5. Roll up tightly and cut into 12 pieces. Place in greased baking dish.
  6. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  8. Mix glaze ingredients until smooth. Spread over warm rolls.

Notes

  • Use dental floss to cut rolls neatly without squishing.
  • Let glaze sit for a few minutes to soak in beautifully.
  • Make the night before and bake fresh in the morning.
