A savory delight, this ham and cheese stuffed bread braid is golden, cheesy, and filled with savory ham, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large pizza dough or homemade bread dough (about 1 lb)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups diced ham
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup grated parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Spread ham evenly down the center third of the dough. Top with mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
  4. Using a knife, cut diagonal strips along both sides of the dough (about 1 inch wide).
  5. Fold strips over filling alternately from left and right, creating a braided look. Tuck ends under to seal.
  6. Brush entire braid with beaten egg for a glossy finish.
  7. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Let cool 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill or cheese will leak out
  • Seal edges tightly for neat slices
  • Sprinkle extra parmesan on top before baking for crispiness
