Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (or heavy cream)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring potatoes to a boil in salted water. Cook 15–18 minutes until fork-tender. Drain.
  2. Mash with butter, warm milk, and salt until smooth and creamy. Keep warm.
  3. Pat steak pieces dry and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and chili flakes.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over high heat.
  5. Sear steak bites in a single layer for 1–2 minutes per side until deeply browned. Work in batches if needed. Remove and set aside.
  6. Lower heat to medium. Add butter and garlic to the same pan. Cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Stir in soy sauce, Worcestershire, and honey. Simmer 1–2 minutes.
  8. Return steak bites to pan and toss in sauce until coated and glossy.
  9. Serve steak bites over mashed potatoes and spoon extra sauce on top. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Add roasted asparagus or green beans as a side.
  • Sprinkle with red pepper flakes for added heat.
  • Serve with crusty bread to mop up sauce.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan for better browning.
  • Let steak rest for 5 minutes before cooking for an even sear.
  • Use cast iron for the best caramelization.
  • Add a squeeze of lemon for brightness.
