Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lump crab meat, picked over for shells
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Garlic Butter Sauce
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Mix the Crab Cakes: In a large bowl, gently combine the crab meat, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, minced garlic, parsley, lemon juice, and panko breadcrumbs. Mix just until combined to keep the crab tender.
  2. Shape & Chill: Form the mixture into 6–8 thick crab cakes and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. Chilling helps them stay together while cooking.
  3. Pan-Sear Until Golden: Heat the butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the crab cakes for 4–5 minutes per side until beautifully golden brown and crispy.
  4. Make the Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant, then add the lemon juice and parsley.
  5. Finish & Serve: Drizzle the warm garlic butter generously over the crab cakes and serve immediately with lemon wedges, coleslaw, or roasted vegetables.

Notes

  • Use fresh lump crab meat for the best texture.
  • Chilling the crab cakes helps them hold their shape.
  • Serve immediately for the crispiest results.
