- 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- Maple syrup for serving
- Powdered sugar (optional)
- Grease a baking dish and spread the cubed French bread evenly inside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard evenly over the bread cubes, pressing lightly so everything absorbs. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Drizzle melted butter on top and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
- Let cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and pour warm maple syrup over the top.
