Ingredients
Scale
6 medium apples (peeled, cored, thinly sliced)
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Vanilla ice cream (for serving)
Caramel sauce (for serving)
Fresh mint (optional, for serving)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a square baking dish.
In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread evenly into the prepared baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in cold butter using fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture is crumbly.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple mixture.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, until apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
Let cool slightly, then serve warm with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle. Garnish with fresh mint if desired.
Notes
Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for a balanced flavor.
Make it ahead and reheat in the oven before serving.
Keep leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Add chopped nuts to the topping for extra crunch.
Drizzle with maple syrup for a fall-inspired touch.
