Cheesy, bubbling, ultra-creamy and baked to golden perfection — the ultimate comfort food hug! This creamy baked chicken penne is a delightful dish that combines tender pasta, shredded chicken, and a rich, flavorful sauce topped with gooey cheese.

Ingredients

  • 300 g penne pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or cubed
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup marinara or tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup grated parmesan
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F. Grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook penne in salted water until al dente. Drain.
  3. Melt butter in a pan, sauté garlic 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk and cream until smooth and thick.
  5. Add marinara, paprika, chili flakes, salt and pepper. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
  6. Add chicken and cooked pasta to the sauce. Toss until fully coated.
  7. Transfer to baking dish. Top with mozzarella and parmesan.
  8. Bake 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Sprinkle with parsley before serving.
