Ingredients
Scale
8 thick slices brioche or Texas toast
3 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking)
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Whipped cream (optional)
Maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, soaking both sides for a few seconds without making it too soggy.
Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Cook soaked bread 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly crisp on the edges.
Transfer to a plate and keep warm.
Dust generously with powdered sugar and top with whipped cream.
Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled over the top.
Notes
Use slightly stale bread for the best texture.
Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure even browning.
Let the toast rest 1 minute before serving for perfect fluffiness.
