Classic Beef Stew: A hearty, cozy, rich, and soul-warming recipe perfect for chilly nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef stew meat, cubed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 medium carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Brown the beef cubes in batches. Set aside.
  2. In the same pot, sauté onions until soft. Add garlic and tomato paste, cooking for 1 minute.
  3. Stir in flour and cook for another minute. Pour in beef broth slowly while stirring. Add soy sauce, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
  4. Return beef to the pot. Cover and simmer on low for 1.5 to 2 hours until beef is tender.
  5. Add carrots and potatoes. Simmer uncovered for another 30–35 minutes until vegetables are soft and stew thickens.
  6. Adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Browning the beef adds depth—don’t skip it.
  • Add a cinnamon stick or bay leaf for more aroma.
  • This stew tastes even better the next day—perfect for meal prep.
