  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate spread or thick chocolate filling
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (optional, for deeper flavor)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Spread chocolate filling evenly over the surface. Sprinkle cocoa powder if using.
  6. Roll tightly into a log, then gently twist for a beautiful swirl.
  7. Place into a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly, then dust generously with powdered sugar before slicing.

Notes

  • Don’t overheat milk or it will kill the yeast.
  • Chill chocolate spread slightly for cleaner swirls.
  • Brush top with melted butter after baking for extra softness.
