Ingredients
Scale
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
⅔ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
1 cup cherry preserves (or cherry pie filling)
½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional for drizzle)
Flaky sea salt (optional for garnish)
Instructions
Beat softened butter and sugar until smooth and creamy.
Add egg and vanilla, then beat until fluffy. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Slowly mix dry ingredients into the wet for a deep chocolate dough with perfect texture.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Use your thumb (or a spoon) to press a well in the center.
Add about ½ tsp cherry preserves into each well. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes until just set.
Cool slightly, then drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkle flaky salt.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
For a variation, try raspberry or strawberry preserves.
