Soft baked pretzel dogs stuffed with cheddar cheese, perfect for game day or as a kid-friendly party appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt
  • Optional: melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Wrap a slice of cheddar around each hot dog, then wrap tightly with strips of pizza dough, sealing the edges.
  2. Bring water to a boil and carefully add baking soda. Dip each wrapped dog for 20–30 seconds.
  3. Place pretzel dogs on a lined baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle generously with coarse sea salt.
  4. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes until deep golden brown.
  5. Brush with melted butter while warm and serve hot with mustard or cheese dip.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end.
  • Use thick-cut hot dogs for better texture.
  • Serve immediately for the best cheese pull.
