- 8 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade dough)
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- Coarse sea salt
- Optional: melted butter for brushing
- Wrap a slice of cheddar around each hot dog, then wrap tightly with strips of pizza dough, sealing the edges.
- Bring water to a boil and carefully add baking soda. Dip each wrapped dog for 20–30 seconds.
- Place pretzel dogs on a lined baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle generously with coarse sea salt.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12–15 minutes until deep golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter while warm and serve hot with mustard or cheese dip.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end.
