- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 slices white sandwich bread (thick cut preferred)
- 1 tbsp butter (for grilling)
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato (sliced)
- Optional: mayo, ketchup, or burger sauce for spreading
- Cook the burger meat in a skillet over medium heat, seasoning with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Drain excess fat.
- Layer cheddar cheese, cooked ground beef, tomato, lettuce, and more cheese on a slice of bread.
- Butter the outside of each bread slice and grill in a skillet until golden and crisp.
- Flip and press with a spatula to melt the cheese evenly.
- Remove from skillet, let rest for 1 minute, then slice and serve.
