A juicy, grilled cheese-smothered beef patty served with asparagus and mushrooms, perfect for a comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional)
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced

Instructions

  1. Form ground beef into 2 thick patties. Season generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme.
  2. Heat olive oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until deeply seared and cooked to desired doneness.
  4. Top each patty with cheese and add butter to the pan; cover briefly until cheese melts luxuriously.
  5. In a separate pan, sauté asparagus and mushrooms with a pinch of salt until tender-crisp and glossy.
  6. Plate patties with roasted veggies and fresh tomato slices. Spoon pan juices over the steak for extra richness.

Notes

  • Don’t press the patties while cooking—keep them juicy.
  • Use room-temperature meat for even cooking.
  • Swap cheese for pepper jack for a spicy kick.
