Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 9-inch deep-dish pie crust (pre-baked or store-bought)
  • 2 large Vidalia onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Fresh thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onions in butter until golden and tender.
  2. Spread the sautéed onions evenly into the pre-baked pie crust.
  3. Whisk eggs, mayo, sour cream, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Pour the filling over the onions in the crust.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes, until golden and set.
  7. Let cool slightly, garnish with thyme if desired, and serve.

Notes

  • Use Vidalia onions for a sweeter, milder flavor.
  • Let the pie rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
