Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
  2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  3. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  4. Fold in butterscotch chips and nuts if using.
  5. Pour into a greased 8×8 pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes.

Notes

  • Sprinkle with sea salt for extra flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter.
  • Let cool before cutting.
