A must-try delight, Butter Chicken with Garlic Naan is rich, velvety, buttery, and packed with warm Indian spices.

  • lbs (700g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cubed
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1½ teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Cooked basmati rice
  • Garlic naan

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix all marinade ingredients with chicken. Cover and marinate at least 30 minutes (overnight for deeper flavor).
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high. Cook marinated chicken until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, melt butter with oil. Sauté onion until soft and golden. Add garlic and ginger, cook 1 minute.
  4. Stir in garam masala, chili powder, and paprika. Toast 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add tomato puree and simmer 8–10 minutes until thickened and deep in color.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and sugar. Simmer gently 5 minutes until silky.
  7. Return chicken to sauce. Simmer 5–7 minutes until fully coated and tender.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro and a swirl of cream before serving.

Notes

  • Grill the marinated chicken for extra smoky flavor.
  • Blend the sauce before adding cream for ultra-smooth texture.
  • Add a small cube of butter at the end for restaurant-style richness.
