Tender, buttery, golden and insanely elegant, this Broiled Lobster Tail with Garlic Butter Hollandaise is a perfect romantic seafood dinner idea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lobster tails, thawed if frozen
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

For the Garlic Butter Hollandaise:

  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced or grated
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cayenne (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the lobster tails: Preheat broiler. With kitchen scissors, cut down the top of the lobster shell lengthwise. Gently pull the meat out and rest it on top of the shell. Place on a baking sheet.
  2. Season and top: Mix melted butter, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and pepper. Brush over lobster meat. Toss breadcrumbs with olive oil and a pinch of salt, then sprinkle lightly over the top.
  3. Broil: Broil lobster tails 6–8 inches from the heat for 8–10 minutes, or until meat is opaque and breadcrumbs are golden.
  4. Make hollandaise: In a heatproof bowl, whisk egg yolks and lemon juice. Place over simmering water (double boiler style), whisking constantly. Slowly drizzle in melted butter while whisking until thickened. Stir in garlic and season with salt and cayenne.
  5. Serve: Drizzle garlic butter hollandaise over lobster tails, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a thermometer to ensure lobster reaches 140°F internally.
  • Make the hollandaise just before serving for freshest flavor.
  • Swap panko with crushed almonds for a gluten-free option.
