- 1 lb (450g) chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Oil for frying
- 3/4 cup BBQ sauce (for tossing)
- 1 large round sourdough bread loaf
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Fresh cracked black pepper
- Onion rings (for serving)
- Coleslaw (for serving)
- Honey mustard & extra BBQ sauce (for serving)
- Season chicken with salt, pepper, and paprika. Dredge in flour, dip in egg, then coat in breadcrumbs.
- Fry at 350°F (175°C) for 4–5 minutes until golden and crispy. Drain and toss in warm BBQ sauce.
- Cut the top off the sourdough loaf and hollow out the center. Brush inside lightly with melted butter and toast for 5 minutes at 375°F (190°C).
- Heat heavy cream until warm. Stir in cheddar and mozzarella until melted and silky. Add garlic powder and pepper.
- Pour hot cheese sauce into the toasted bread bowl. Place under broiler for 1–2 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden.
- Arrange BBQ chicken around the bread bowl. Add onion rings and coleslaw on the side. Serve with dipping sauces.
