Thick Bakery-Style Chocolate Chip Cookies — soft, gooey, and loaded with chocolate chips for the ultimate cookie experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ¾ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
  • Optional: sea salt flakes for topping

Instructions

  1. Beat cold cubed butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy but thick.
  2. Mix in eggs and vanilla until the dough is rich and velvety.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add to the wet mix until a thick dough forms.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop large dough balls and chill for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake chilled dough balls for 12–14 minutes until golden at the edges but still soft in the center.
  7. Let cool slightly, then sprinkle sea salt on top if desired.

Notes

  • Using cold butter helps achieve a thick, bakery-style texture.
  • Chilling the dough prevents excessive spreading.
  • For extra gooeyness, slightly underbake the cookies.
