Baked Meatball Mozzarella Subs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb ground pork (optional for extra flavor)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub buns
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh chopped parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine beef, pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, and seasonings. Mix well and roll into golf ball-sized meatballs.
  2. Place meatballs on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 20–22 minutes.
  3. Transfer baked meatballs to a saucepan with marinara sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Split the hoagie rolls, place 3–4 meatballs in each, spoon extra sauce on top, and sprinkle with mozzarella.
  5. Place sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and melted.

Notes

  • Optional ground pork adds extra flavor.
  • Fresh parsley adds a nice garnish.
  • Serve hot for best results.
