Fluffy, colorful, glazed and seriously addictive assorted glazed donuts.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar per flavor (for glaze)
  • 23 tbsp milk per flavor (for glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla, strawberry, or matcha extract (for glaze)
  • Food coloring or cocoa powder as needed (for glaze)
  • Assorted toppings: sprinkles, nuts, freeze-dried berries, heart shapes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add butter, egg, salt, and flour. Mix and knead until dough is soft and smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  3. Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out donuts and holes. Place on floured tray, cover and let rise 30 more minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Mix glaze ingredients in separate bowls. Dip each donut in glaze and top with sprinkles or nuts. Let set before serving.
