A moist and delicious Apple Walnut Fritter Bread swirled with cinnamon and topped with a sweet glaze, perfect for fall baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (swirl)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1¾ tsp baking powder
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup chopped walnuts + extra for topping
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • ¼ tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Prep the apples: Toss diced apples with brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  2. Make the swirl: Mix ⅓ cup brown sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon in a small bowl.
  3. Make the batter: Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Whisk flour and baking powder separately; add to batter alternately with milk.
  4. Assemble the loaf: Grease a 9×5″ loaf pan. Add half the batter → half the apples → swirl mixture → walnuts. Repeat layers. Lightly press everything down so apples bake in.
  5. Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a rack.
  6. Glaze: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over cooled loaf and top with extra walnuts.

Notes

  • Serve warm with butter or cream cheese
  • Add extra glaze for sweeter slices
  • Toast slices lightly for a caramelized edge
  • Press apple layer gently so it doesn’t sink
  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balance
  • Don’t slice until fully cooled for neat swirls
